Trump's Compulsive Need to Blame Joe Biden For EVERYTHING Bad Is Psychotic, Pathetic and Inevitable
“The buck stops here” was popularized by Harry S. Truman. He was so fond of the phrase that he had a small sign with the words on his desk while he was president. Jimmy Carter was so enamored of the words and the ideas behind them that he borrowed the famous sign from the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum so that it could sit on his presidential desk as well.
As the president of the United States, the leader of the government, and the most powerful person in the world, Truman subscribed to the notion that a Commander-in-Chief must take responsibility not just for their own actions but also for the actions of their administration.
In 2021, Biden responded to criticism of our withdrawal from Afghanistan with, "The buck stops with me.” Biden took responsibility for his administration’s mistakes rather than blaming an underling or the previous administration.
It would be deliciously ironic if Trump borrowed the “buck stops here” sign from the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum.
Trump does not live by those words. Instead, he lives by their antithesis. Trump stubbornly refuses to take responsibility for anything negative. It’s maddening.
The Trump administration may be a flailing garbage fire, but it has message discipline. Unless they want to be fired, EVERYONE in the administration has to subscribe fiercely to the following notions: everything that Trump does is strong and right and rooted irrevocably in his fierce patriotism and America First agenda and everything that Biden did was weak and woke and wrong and rooted in Biden’s stupidity, ineptitude and hatred of our country.
Ironically, much of MAGA has adopted Ben Shapiro’s “facts don’t care about your feelings” catchphrase/credo when Trump’s persona is rooted in elevating feelings over facts.
Trump comes from the world of reality television. He consequently sees everything in terms of emotion and stories.
The story that Trump told over and over and over again on the campaign trail was that Biden was the worst president in American history, much worse, in Trump’s estimation, than all of the pro-slavery presidents.
To Trump, high inflation and a weak border policy are worse than believing that African-Americans are racially inferior and should be forced to work for free, have their families ripped away from them, and get beaten mercilessly if they try to escape.
Trump lost to Joe Biden largely because we are a viciously sexist society. It’s easier to get your base to hate a strong woman with a complicated backstory than an affable white haired grandpa.
Trump doesn’t just dislike Biden. He DESPISES him. He hates him because he beat him in 2020. He hates him because he wants people to think that Biden stole the election, even if he probably doesn’t think so.
He hates Biden because he thinks Biden got him arrested and convicted of thirty-four felonies, when the truth is that he got himself arrested and convicted of thirty-four felonies.
Trump is all about controlling the narrative. He doesn’t want the public to view Biden as an amiable old man who dedicated his life to public service and helped the country recover from the COVID-19 crisis. He wants people to see Biden the way that he sees him, as an evil, insane, senile fool who can barely stand up or form a coherent sentence, yet is somehow also personally responsible for everything terrible in the world.
Biden’s fogginess doesn’t look so bad compared to Trump’s frothing-at-the-mouth insanity. Trump wants folks who might feel nostalgic for a time, roughly six months ago, when our country didn’t seem to be on fire, our closest allies didn’t hate us, with good reason, and everything wasn’t terrible.
When Biden left office, crime was down and the economy was up, but Trump wants us to think that Biden presided over the most tremendous increase in violent crime in human history and would cause World War III or a Depression if elected.
It doesn’t matter that these things aren’t true. To Trump and his followers, they feel true, and they contribute to the narrative that Trump inherited a dystopia and is currently in the process of creating a shimmering utopia, a Reich that will last a thousand years.
Trump doesn’t want Biden to live out his remaining years in peace. He wants the public to revile him and hold him personally responsible for everything bad that happens in the next four years.
Nothing embodies the ridiculousness of Trump pinning all of his problems on a doddering old man history is well on its way to forgetting quite like direct-to-video action villain Pete Hegseth tweeting, “This morning I proudly ENDED the ‘Women, Peace & Security (WPS) program inside the @DeptofDefense. WPS is yet another woke/divisive/social justice/Biden initiative that overburdens our commanders and troops—distracting from our core task: WAR-FIGHTING. WPS is a UNITED NATIONS program pushed by feminists and left-wing activists. Politicians fawn over it; troops HATE it. DoD will hereby executive (sic) the minimum of WPS by statute, and fight to end the program for our next budget. GOOD RIDDANCE WPS!”
Hegseth doesn’t just dislike WPS. He HATES it. It’s A FREAKING ABOMINATION. It gets in the way of WAR-FIGHTING.
Nothing should get in the way of WARFIGHTING. Incidentally, I am perpetually amused that Trump brags about being a peaceful president, in sharp contrast to the warmongers in the second Bush administration, yet he appointed, as his secretary of defense, a bro who refers to his soldiers as WAR-FIGHTERS because “Marine”, “Soldier”, and “Veteran” are insufficiently macho and aggressive, but that’s a blog post for another time.
Twitter is a worthless website, but it proved briefly useful when users noted that “The Women, Peace, and Security Act was passed in 2017 during the first Trump administration and had significant Trump support.”
The bipartisan bill was co-written by puppy-killer and ICE Barbie Kristi Noem, was championed by Ivanka Trump, and very recently was praised by noted far-left extremists Marco Rubio and Dan Caine, Trump’s chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Rather than acknowledge his stupid, possibly booze-inspired mistake, the booze-loving CAPS LOCK enthusiast asked himself, “WWDJTD?” (What would Donald J. Trump do) and blamed it all on Biden.
Hegseth followed up his post about the womanly evil of WPS by bragging, “The woke and weak Biden administration distorted & weaponized the straightforward & security-focused WPS initiative launched in 2017. So—yes—we are ending the ' woke divisive/social justice/Biden (WPS) initiative.” Biden ruined EVERYTHING, including “Women, Peace & Security.”
The same act is hailed as “straightforward & security-focused” when Donald Trump signed it into law in 2017, yet it has devolved into a Commie plot against America.
Hegseth throws out random buzzwords he knows are red meat to his fans. It’s not enough to merely give it
“ the meaningless yet ubiquitous “woke” tag. Hegseth followed it with “divisive/social justice/Biden.” Why did he stop there? Why not describe it as “woke divisive/social justice/Biden/Crooked Hillary/FAKE NEWS/Russia hoax/autopen/DEI/Barack Hussein Obama/politically correct/rigged election/Soros/Bengazi/trans/radical leftist.”
When Trump and his administration do something it’s good and right and strong but if Biden does the same thing then it’s wrong and weak and must be destroyed for the sake of our beloved MALE war-fighters, who are at terrible risk of getting cooties and girl germs if WPS is not ENDED proudly.
Hegseth said the quiet part out loud when he insisted, “Biden ruined EVERYTHING.” That’s not just what Trump and Hegseth desperately want the world to believe; it’s the official, unofficial position of the Trump administration. It doesn’t matter that Biden is out of office. It doesn’t matter that he’s keeping a low profile/waiting patiently for the Grim Reaper. All that matters is that Biden is a useful scapegoat for everything, particularly things that Trump and his minions are responsible for.
Trump is the buck-passer-in-chief, a coward too narcissistic to concede that he’s ever wrong, or has ever been wrong about ANYTHING during his 78 years of WINNING.
